“The God Delusion”, Richard Dawkins.

February 16th 2009 04:46
“The God Delusion”, Richard Dawkins.

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”
Richard Dawkins well-known scientist and philosopher, author of brilliant works on natural selection, genetics and more, intends here to raise our consciousness to the fact that there is a life outside religions, that Darwin’s theory is the only plausible answer to our questions regarding humanity’s existence and evolution, and that Atheism is not only a realistic option but also a courageous and beautiful aspiration to have.

This is a must read book with hundreds of true-based facts and stories, in his opinion, on the twisted manipulative guilt orientated ways religions dictate our world and our lives.
“Imagine the world without religion”, the World Trade Centre twin towers would still be there...
Richard Dawkins, a profound atheist, is inviting us to think for ourselves, to be not afraid of leaving behind us the old Dogmas and to believe that our sense or good and bad can be derived from our Darwinian past.
TGD raises questions like, why religions exist, what are the benefits of religion? Does religion has a direct survival value of its own? And if no, is it a by-product of something that does?
With a fabulous sense of humour, and as he says one must need some humour when reading the absurdity of religions statements, Richard Dawkins explains to us his point of view through the book with quotes of Thomas Jefferson, Einstein, Benjamin Franklin, Voltaire, Kant, John Adams, and many more high profiled men arguing as well the existence of religions; he proposes scientific theories on moral based Darwinian’s origin, and tells us stories of moral and physical child abuses in the name of God.

“Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man – living in the sky - who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ‘til the end of time... But He loves you! “
George Carlin.
