Paris wakes up. Part one.
It is still dark, but the city is already awake, does it ever really sleep?
Cars are driving everywhere, maybe not as many as during the day but one can see the day slowly starting and stretching like one does when going out of bed.
I can see from the window of the apartment, some people already waiting for the bus to go to work, hidden under layers of clothes, scarves, gloves and hats, they seem to be sleep walking...
It is 5am.
Paris, so beautiful, so complex, like a woman, never says what it means, never means bad.
We read books about how women in Paris never get fat. Do they eat? Well, yes they do, so what is the secret?
The whole day, from the moment one wakes up and leaves home is like a gigantic marathon.
they run here and there, all the time, not for sport it is just a way of living. Up and down billions of stairs in the subway, running after the buses, going to work, shopping out and back home, It never stops!
So, are women on diet here? What do they eat?
Well, we all know about French food, rich, very rich. There are patisseries everywhere, fresh baguettes, delicious croissants, pains au chocolate, creamy cheese and the legendary daily glass of delicate red wine...
If we go to a restaurant; the portion are slightly smaller, a little bit of everything, degustation all year long!
But honestly there isn’t so much time to get fat here, actually when the day is one big run, and when it is cold and dry, a little butter croissant is a salvation for survival!
Paris is the city that never sleeps. During the day it is like a giant ant’s town, it never stops, always somewhere to go, something to do, something to get; When the sun goes down, while some of the Parisians go home after a hard and busy day, some others, and not the least, take over the city and keep it alive!
From bars to bars, restaurants, theatres, peepshows in pigalle, and nightclubs, one can witness one of the most eclectic and glamorous night life ever all around the city!
Every ages, styles, social classes, tourists, fashion victims, bourgeois, crawl around the streets of Paris without a rest! This is the city of the insomniacs!
