falling in love.

September 24th 2007 06:07
When do we stop playing the game?

We, human beings, are a romantic species.
As far as we can remember humans love history has been linked to the very famous description of “falling in love”.
We fall for love, always did, always will!
Poetry, literature, songs and today movies are mainly concentrating on our love issues, why it doesn’t work and how much we will die for the person we adore!
Despite so many centuries of love stories, we seem to be still half ignorant on the matter, and every time feeling like Alice in wonderland, not knowing what’s coming next and what to do…

Every time we enter a new relationship it feels like a blank page again, and it doesn’t matter how many years of experiences on the dating scene we have, it always starts the same way, with the same questions, same worries, and same insecurities.
Why is he not calling, have I done something wrong, or sent the wrong signals???
Today we live in a time of emancipation, if we could say so, and the morals have evolved.
There is less judgments and boundaries when it comes to romantic and sexual life, but living in a world of too much freedom is it not making the whole thing harder?
If it becomes all just about fun, where is the constancy and when do we know when it is for real?
We are in general monogamist individuals, we tend to hunt for one partner and make it a lifetime experience. Unfortunately it isn’t as easy done as said and when it comes to relationship, as we know, it involves 2 people not necessarily wanting the same thing, or at the same time…
By cultural history, laws and social rules have bent us to specific romantic behavioral patterns. We try today to break some of those laws, change the rules and follow more our instincts than the code book!

Still, despite all efforts the games of seduction always pops out when we wish to make it simple, honest and sincere.
Is it not too early to make “this” special phone call that might change our whole life? When do we have sex? Too early we are called easy, too long so prudish?
When do we start talking about “us”?
Go with the flow my friends, I wish we could, and we do try, but doesn’t stop the trillions of questions invading our head!

If love is such a necessary part of life, why is it so damn complicated?
