Bikram's Yoga. part two.

January 28th 2008 05:52
Bikram’s Yoga. Part two.
Entering Yoga centres is always a very special experience. It is like stepping into another world. Everything is designed to quiet your mind and make you feel comfortable and peaceful. The colours on the walls are bright and meaningful. The smells of encens are a delight and people smile all the time. What a change!
Bikram’s Yoga has the specificity to take place in a very hot room, around 36 degrees, and the benefits are vast.
Among them your body will burn fat faster; the excessive sweating accelerates the detoxification. Most of all, the heat relaxes your muscles, joints and tissues to allow more flexibility and therefore will reduce any risk of injury. Working out in such hot environment is very challenging indeed, but at the same time it helps you somehow to have a better concentration. You feel stronger and focused.

It is 90 minutes of self exploration. You feel, you sense and you live every inches of your body, your skin, your organs, your muscles are alive and working with you. One of the most important things I have learned at Bikram’s Yoga is to have no expectations and it is maybe the hardest to achieve. Some days you come into the class room feeling tired and somehow reluctant to any kind of efforts but you came and it might be your best class after all. What ruins most things in our lives are expectations of any kind. We have expectations towards people, especially our close friends and family. Last night concert was not as good as expected. This holiday resort didn’t reach to our expectations... and at last expectations towards one’s self, which brings so many frustrations.
If we could stop expecting just for one second, then maybe we would able to enjoy life for what it is, the here and now, live the moment and just be.
